CAT 2009 Common Admission Test

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as an entrance exam for the management programmes of its seven business schools. The test is multiple-choice based with roughly one-fourth negative-mark penalties for wrong answers, and traditionally comprises three sections that span the domains of arithmetical problem solving, geometry, statistics, data interpretation, logical reasoning, puzzles, and English language skills. It is held on the third Sunday of November each year. The cat is all set to roll online from Saturday. Candidates are required to arrive at the test centre no later than 2:00 PM. Testing will begin at 3:30 PM and end at 6 PM. If you have registered for Session 2 (afternoon session), candidate check-in will commence from 1:30 PM.

CAT 2009 Eligibility Criteria
The Candidate Should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA)categories], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

CAT 2009 Pattern
After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room.
At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations.

CAT 2009 Test Duration
The duration of the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes including initial 15 minute tutorial.
No breaks will be given during the test.
Therefore, there are a total of three sections in the test.
There will be about 60 to 70 questions in the test.
The test consists of questions that evaluate a candidate’s quantitative, verbal, and logical & data interpretive abilities.

CAT 2009 Results
Results of CAT 2009 for academic year 2010 will declare on Friday, 22 January 2010 onwards
