Punjab bandh

The Punjab Bandh call has been supported by various Sikh organisations including the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee. Earlier, Dal Khalsa, a radical Sikh organisation had announced on October 23 that they will hold a Bandh on November 3 to protest against the atrocities on Sikhs during riots of 1984. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Jathedar of the Akal Takhat Giani Joginder Singh Vedani and president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Avtar Singh Makkar expressed their gratitude to the people for making the bandh a complete success and maintaining peace.

The bandh called by the Akal Takht to protest against the alleged disrespect to Guru Gobind Singh, 10th Sikh guru, by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh affected life in Punjab on Tuesday. He said that a particular newspaper had published said news on its front page citing secret information sent by Intelligence Bureau that possible threat of militant attacks on Bandh day.
