
Largest Museum in India
National Museum in New Delhi is the largest museum in India. It holds variety of articles ranging from pre-historic era to modern works of art. It is run by the Ministry of Culture, part of the Government of India. The museum houses a rich collection of printed books covering various subjects and also a rich collection of thousands of manuscripts in Persian, Arabic and Urdu languages. Today, the museum has over sixty galleries of Art, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Zoology and Botany sections, spreading over ten thousand square feet area. Many rare specimens of both Indian and Trans-Indian origin relating to Humanities and Natural Science are preserved and displayed in museum.
Scholars are permitted to use the library on request by obtaining passes. If a disease-triggering mosquito is matched, the government is warned of the possible risks of going ahead with the project.
