New fleet of DTC : Low Floor Buses : “Gift for Delhi”

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

New green color low floor buses of DTC are new attraction for Delhi commuters. DTC has added 45 low floor buses in its fleet. And these buses are running with full capacity. 12 buses are running on Route no. 479, 8 on Route no. 500, 10 on Route no. 442 and 5 buses on Route no. 729.

These buses are getting popular for daily travelers. People are preferring these busses in comparison to blue line(popular as death lines now) or old DTC buses. These buses have tubeless tyres to ensure no flat tyre problems. New buses have pneumatic doors. People are not very use to of it but they will be very soon.

With these new buses earning per kilometer has touched Rs. 20 while for old buses it is about Rs. 12 per kilometer. The operating loss on new buses is about Rs. 6 per kilometer, which is very less as compared to Rs. 30 per km in old DTC buses.

I must say that Delhi Govt. must increase the no. of these buses in roads of Delhi. It will not only make DTC less loss making but also will improve the condition of public transport in Delhi especially the public Bus travel.

Should Delhi Metro be above, under or on the Ground?

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

As Delhi metro is progressing with their speedy work on in Gurgaon. More and more people are criticizing the fact that the Delhi Metro is above the ground. People says that it should be made underground as done in Chandni Chowk, New Delhi Station, Chawri Bazaar line. Well taking about the cost, it is almost double in the underground project but it’s a one time investment.

I personally feel that after facing 5 minor earthquakes in Gurgaon the last 7 years. We don’t know when we may face it again and the probability of surviving in an object which is 80 feets under the ground is almost 0 (zero) in that case. Not only the passengers who will be traveling, but also those who will be present in the underground station will not survive in that case. If you are above the ground you have some option to survive at least.

MGF Metropolis Mall

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

I liked the design of the mall. Almost same as the Metropolitan Mall but much cleaner a less crowded, has a better atrium space and better brands than Metropolitan. As soon as you enter the mall, you have most of the sports brands (nike, reebok etc.) at your left. At the right you have CTC Plaza, Archies and other nice showrooms. Other brands like Yatra.com, bibs and cribs, a mobile store by future group, food court are there. At the week ends you can enjoy live music by some band.

Well strategic location and very near to the Ambi Mall at the Delhi Gurgaon Border, just opposite to Udyog vihar. There is news in the real estate market the Bharti Walmart Retail venture has planned to take the complete mall (or maybe a large part of it) for their massive retail store.

The company “Ambience” developer has developed something which takes care of your shopping as well as your health. Pizza Hut : New Menu Additions

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Just visited the Pizza Hut that we regularly do at the Bestech Centre Point in Gurgaon, they have added much better stuff in the menu than before. Now you have mushroom soup, which I had and its yummmmmy. I love Masala lemonade so could not miss that. Mom tried a pasta dish which was nice and now you have a Garlic Bread Platter which has 2 pieces each of 3 different variety of Garlic Breads. New Pizzas are added which I could not try in a single day. Will have to visit 5 – 7 time more to try all the new dishes.

Mileage!!!! Talk CNG

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Well while our visit to Chokhi Dhani Resort, we have tried the CNG kit in our new Jaguar. I got an average of 96 Paisay per KM. Performance is almost the same as petrol coz I managed to run it at 135 Kmph. This is good man…. but the worst part was that we could not find a CNG outlet at Jaipur. Rajasthan has only LPG stations. Overall the nice trip and a great value for money, at least you are driving a luxury car at the running cost of a bike.

Chokhi Dhani Resort Jaipur

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

We just had a stay at the Choki Dhani Resort : A Heritage resort in Jaipur which is very famous nowadays for its village like atmosphere and Food specially. They have more than 100 rooms which are worked with paintings and glasswork from inside. Bathrooms are regular, you will find that the room entrance door is exactly like you have in the village (the chain lash) system.

Apart from the room, the reception is impressive. I had an opportunity to visit the Bar and its good. Overall it’s an above average hotel coz I think that there are many improvements that can be done in the rooms as well as the garden areas to make. I have seen some heritage hotels in Jodhpur and they are awesome and better.
