Are Gurgaon and Delhi prepared for flood?
Are Gurgaon and Delhi prepared for flood?
I was on a Business promotion trip in Delhi. I just had to visit 3 places, Okhla Industrial Area, Kalka Ji and Mahipalpur. It was rainy weather in the city right from the morning and it started raining be afternoon.
After the rain started I had completed the Okhla’s work, but I took me 2 hours to reach Kalkaji from Okhla which is merely 10 Km from Okhla. From Okhla I took a straight root Mahipalpur via R K Puram and domestic airport. It took me 3 hours from R K Puram to the Airport itself. What the Hell!! And this just happened because of the HEAVY water logging near the airport and flyover construction going on on the way. Still not over, I got a jam at the Iffco Chowk in Gurgaon and then the insane Jharsa flyover.
If this has happened due to the 4 rainy hours in both the cities, then what will happen if it rains for 4 days? Are we prepare for flood? I feel absolutely not, coz Gurgaon itself has very poor water disposal system and especially the new Gurgaon area.

How can this be possible? I got a phone call from my uncle yesterday that flood alert has been declared by the local authorities in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. I have spend almost my entire childhood in Bhilwara and never heard of this news before. The Meja Dam is overflowing with 26 feets of water and if it keeps on raining like this, then the dam will have to discharge the water in to the Kothari river which will overflow and there will be a danger of the Old Bhilwara area getting submerged into the water. Strange!!!
This year actually, Rajasthan got good
Wet n Wild Resort in Gurgaon
Wet n wild resort is one of the oldest properties in Gurgaon. Me and my family went there for dinner for birthday celebrating birthdays of my mother and wife. The Wet area closes before 8 PM so we could not enjoy that :( . But the restaurant is fine. They have approximately 20 tables for dining and they serve food as well as wines in that. I have stayed in their hotel rooms too on the first floor. The rooms are also nicely designed and the best things to see are the bathrooms. Well designed
11 hours of wait and watch show of death. 100s of viewers, 5 lifes were on bait and not even a single life got saved.
In the Khari river of Pali, Rajasthan, 5 people tried to cross the bridge on Indica car, but water got overflowed and high speed flood water trapped them all. 100s of people gathered near to river. They were watching them trying to survive in between the river. Very soon local police officials, army even the environment minister of Rajasthan was there on that tragic place. According to Environment Minister Dave they tried very hard to get
Which is better? Above or under the ground? News is that the Delhi Metro in Gurgaon will be above the Ground. The metro will be under the ground right from Central Secretariat to Saket and after Saket, it will be above the ground coming from Qutub Minar, Andheria Mor, Rajokri, and entering Gurgaon from Sikarnderpur to DT Mall and finally ending at IFFCO Chowk (I donno what are the further plans).
If its above the Ground, then its for sure that the aesthetics and beauty of the Malls on the Mehrauli – Gurgaon road are going to shatter. No doubt that
As Delhi metro is progressing with their speedy work on in Gurgaon. More and more people are criticizing the fact that the Delhi Metro is above the ground. People says that it should be made underground as done in Chandni Chowk, New Delhi Station, Chawri Bazaar line. Well taking about the cost, it is almost double in the underground project but it’s a one time investment.
I personally feel that after facing 5 minor earthquakes in Gurgaon the last 7 years. We don’t know when we may face it again and the probability of surviving in an object which is 80
So, the news is that Sikanderpur Chowk will be closed for the Delhi Metro work in Gurgaon. The metro station will be located just after the Sikanderpur mor. And what about the traffic. HT Gurgaon says that HUDA is planning to divert the traffic through Garden Estate, which I personally feel is impossible. The Faridabad – Sector 42 road is open now and the best thing that can be done is that the road from Mehrauli Road which will connect to the Faridabad road should be constructed and the traffic should be diverted towards Sector 42 and Golf Course. If
So now the signboards of Delhi metro can be seen on the roads of Gurgaon. With Delhi metro entering Gurgaon, the property prices has now started going up. Commercial Properties by Rs. 100 psf increased with the metro effect.  As soon as reach the Metropolitan Mall on the Gurgaon - Mehrauli road, you see the Metro workers working along with the sides of the mall. So… its time to celebrate.
I have been to this place 2 years back and believe me at that time there was no better place to date with girlfriend. Now the number of malls in Gurgaon and Delhi have over taken the charm of this place. Actually our Netaji’s arjun ka rath jammed on the way when we were on the way to Gurgaon and fortunately it happened near to the famous Ansal’s Plaza. We went to Mc Donald’s over there and had our lunch waiting there for the mechanic.
Delhi Metro is my first choice if I have to go to the routes of Metro. Delhi Metro is ultimate example of best management with wonderful implementation of policies.
Connaught Place, Old Delhi Railway Stations, New Delhi Railway Station, Chandni Chowk, Shahdra, Pragati Maidan, Dwarka important sectors, Janak Puri, Rajouri Garden, Karol Bagh, Central Secretariat, Tis hazari, Civil Lines, rohini, Kewhav Puram, and lot many important areas of Delhi are covered by Metro. These are the places which Delhites needs to go frequently. Metro is expanding Very fast. Its going to cover more area of Delhi, not only Delhi but also
Madhuban Restaurant near PVR Saket New Delhi
Had dinner with friends at this restaurant yesterday. The entrance is a tunnel like structure with orange color as if you are entering a castle, ambience is like the normal restaurants as we had is Plaza Solitaire Gurgaon. The food we had there was Dal Makhani (which is the obvious order), Shahi paneer and Missi Roti along with vegetable Raita. Dal makhni was exactly the taste I always relish. Missi Roti was undoubtedly the best I have ever had in Delhi (soft and tasty), not better than the Rajasthani Missi Roti. Shahi paneer was
